Scoutmethods

The scoutmethods can be found under Locations --> Department --> Scout Preferences.

The available scoutmethods within the Natutec Scout app are:

- Intensity,

- Counts,

- Card Count,

- Absence/presence.

For each scout preference determined in the "Add Department" step, it is possible to select one or more scoutmethods on which the values derived from the scouting sessions are based. It is important to carefully consider relevant scouting methods. For example, values for a scout preference such as diseases may be challenging to determine based on counts and/or card counts. It is more logical for such a scout preference to determine the value based on intensity or simply to determine whether it is present or absent. Below is a list of scouting methods along with how these methods should be interpreted.

Intensity:

The scout method "Intensity" is a subjective estimate of the presence of a pest/natural enemy/disease and/or pollination in the greenhouse. This scout method is preferred when it is not possible to determine an absolute value. For example, a disease that is present in the greenhouse. However, it is recommended to handle the intensity values as consistently as possible to provide a reliable and representative picture.

Count:

The scout method "Count" is a method where the observed occurrences of a pest/natural enemy/disease and/or pollination are entered in absolute numbers. This involves not the counts from a Horiver map but, for example, counts on the plant, around the plant, under the plant, or another location in the greenhouse.

Card count:

The scout method "Card Count" is a method where the values of pests/natural enemies are specifically read from a Horiver map. For determining the amount of whitefly, one can perform their own observation and counting. It is also possible to use the Horiver scanner for this purpose.

Absence/Presence:

The scout method "Absence/Presence" is a method for determining whether a pest/natural enemy/disease and/or pollination is present or absent. It is important to note that absence and/or presence are represented in percentages. To get an exact percentage on the dashboard, it is essential to indicate both presence and absence. If only the presence is determined, the percentage will always be 100%.
